Dear Families,

We are rocking on in to our year. The kids are adjusting beautifully and are working so hard each day. I am very pleased with their progress so far. I have given every child the DRA reading assessment, a Math Pre-test and I have started the Texas Primary Reading Inventory. WHEW! I will be setting up parent conferences once I have completed all tests and have compiled the data. Below you will find my Top Ten List......please read over it very carefully as this information will greatly affect your child's performance each day in class.....

  1. Red folders must be returned every morning.
  2. Reading logs must be completed by your child (preferably in pencil) and then signed by you. Please return them everyday.
  3. Please initial and send the conduct sheet back everyday.
  4. Homework is due no later than Friday morning. I will begin recording grades very soon and missing homework will affect your child's average.
  5. Lunch money needs to be sent in an envelope or baggy with your child's lunch pin number written somewhere on it.
  6. Library books must be returned to school on Friday morning as this is our library day. Your child will not be allowed to check out a new book if the other one is not returned. You should see the sad faces when this happens.
  7. Remove all papers from the KEEP side of the red folder everyday and review the skills with your child.
  8. Read our newsletter very carefully each Monday and make note of important dates and times as well as special first grade happenings.
  9. Tennis shoes must be worn on P.E. days (Tuesday , Thursday, & Friday)....It is very difficult for your child to run in flip flops. :)
  10. Show your child the importance of working hard, perseverance, being responsible, respect for others, and enjoying every second of every minute of every hour of the day. Life is such a gift!

Hug your child, tell them that your love them, and honor their best effort! It is going to be a GREAT YEAR!!!
