At-risk Texas students make impressive gains!
While the way we assess student and teacher growth is debated, new data from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) brings exciting news. Texas Public Schools are showing significant improvements in student performance on STAAR assessments, especially for at-risk students.
In 2022, STAAR math results saw a notable 14 percentage point increase for at-risk students in Grade 8, and STAAR reading showed an impressive 18 percentage point increase for Grade 4 compared to last year. This progress reflects Texas Public Schools' commitment to supporting at-risk students in their academic journey.
Despite ongoing discussions about the 'right' way to measure progress, let's celebrate the positive momentum. These improvements speak to the dedication of educators and Texas Public Schools' commitment to student success.
