Texas public schools continue to demonstrate commendable progress in student outcomes, with a focus on college, career, and military readiness. All of this despite facing significant challenges, including one of the highest percentages of students on free and reduced lunch, one of the highest percentages of students from single-parent or no-parent homes, and one of the highest percentages of students with limited or no English proficiency.
According to recent data from the Texas Education Agency, there has been a steady increase in readiness indicators, reflecting the dedication of educators and administrators statewide. From 2021 to 2022, the college, career, and military readiness index rose from 65 to 69 percent, showcasing the ongoing efforts to prepare students for success beyond graduation. This upward trend underscores the effectiveness of educators in providing students with diverse pathways to achieve their post-secondary goals, ensuring that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-evolving workforce.
Texas ISDs remain steadfast in their commitment to nurturing the potential of every student, contributing to a brighter future for our state and beyond, despite challenges such as ranking nearly last among all 50 states in per-student funding and a state government working to undermine the excellent work of highly trained, state-certified, professional educators in our fantastic Texas Public Schools.
