Texas student participation in AP exams has increased 116% over a 10 year period! AP exam scores can earn college credit before setting foot on a college campus, and in some cases, skip introductory college courses. Texas ranks second in the nation in both the number of AP examinees and the number of AP examinations taken. Over 25% of Texas students in grades 11 and 12 took at least one Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) exam in any subject during the 2018-2019* school year. In the 2019-2020 school year, 24.7 percent of students who were fully engaged took at least one AP or IB examination.
